About

About me

My name is Jason Robinson, 33 years of age, English born and an European citizen. I live in Helsinki, Finland, where I work as a Software Developer at Spellpoint Oy.

I am interested in a number of things, some of them being the reason for setting up this blog. One of the greatest things I enjoy is computers and programming. I have been lucky as to get a job where I am able to daily work with challenging projects. However, I like to keep up with things on my free time as well, and one of the products of that time is this site. I see it as my own little playgroung where I can put things to test, and maybe even share something useful and interesting. My main "thing" is not web design (and certainly not graphic design you might add), and as such this site is not even intented to be the fanciest site on Earth. It is my own though, every single line of of it (well maybe a few functions borrowed here and there). I generally enjoy making my own bits & pieces instead of using ready made components.

My other big passion is music. I think I've gone through every single genre of music (except maybe classical and "humppa"). Generally I listen to songs, not bands. Electronic music is a genre that is especially close to my heart, especially breakbeat and drum'n'bass. My love for this music made me spend thousands of euros over 10 years on records, which I have played all around Finland (and a few times abroad) behind the DJ booth. Nothing beats that feeling of dropping a tune the crowd likes and just goes nuts.

About Bass Heroes

Basshero or Bass Heroes? These used to be the same thing, only the domain Basshero.org just sounded better than Bassheroes.org. Bass Heroes as a name and concept was created by me for club event organizing. I had regular nights at several small bars in Helsinki, and after using several names I came up with Bassheroes. While looking for images for a flyer I stumbled on the Bass Hero (the muscular dude staring at you in the background) and that sealed the name. Bass Heroes was born.

This all happened in 2004 and some great parties followed and two new members to the crew, Dj Belly and Dj Xer. We also hosted radio shows on Breaks FM and NuBreaks for almost two years. All things however must come to an end in time.

About present and future

Stepping down from active deejaying and general lack of activity within Bassheroes, I decided to redesign the site and put it into active use in areas where my passion currently lives most. Being a programmer and general tech-enthusiast, these are the areas which the present, and future Basshero.org will be concentrating. I have no illusions of creating a busy blog with hundreds of readers, but then that isn't even in my interest to do so. The future is technology, the future is definitely online. This is my little piece of future.
