I recently created a new Facebook page to promote donations to open source projects. I strongly believe that open source developers are the heroes of the computing community. Giving a lot, asking for little.

I myself pledge to donate at least 10 € monthly to a project of my choosing. If you also feel that open source is important to you, why not join the page and post your donations and suggestions for donation targets. In this way we are building visibility to the projects and also giving out the message that donations are important.

Open source developers and project maintainers are the heroes of the computing world. They spend massive amounts of time to write code and give it away for free. Many programs or even operating systems would not exist without these developers who give a lot but only ask for little in favour - often just to be recognized and appreciated.

I however think that a little recognition in the form of hard cash is fair to keep these developers working on their projects for the benefit of the whole computing community.

I request everyone who joins this page to donate to a project of their choice and amount of their choice. I also request it to a be regular contribution. Even a small amount counts, after all, rivers form from small streams.

I will myself pledge to make a monthly donation of up to 10 € to a chosen open source project.
