Argonaut RSS mess up, the coming release and Pylons becomes Pyramid
Argonaut RSS mess up & the coming release
To all those subscribed to the RSS feed - while upgrading the site to a newer Argonaut version a development RSS XML file got through. Sorry about the test post spam that came along with that. That and many other issues have now been fixed, and Argonaut is getting ready for it's first public release, just a few more fixes including a better way of stopping comment spam. So make sure to check back in a few days or hit that RSS feed button to get notified.
Pylons is dead, long live Pyramid?
On another note regarding Pylons, which Argonaut is built on. It looks like the development of Pylons will be stopped at the latest 1.0 release (only bug fixes will be done). The Pylons Project will be merging it's development with repoze.bfg and together they will become the Pyramid web framework. Since Pyramid is essentially repoze.bfg, not Pylons, I personally wasn't too fancied with this news. Especially after spending numerous hours building the new Argonaut from scratch using Pylons.
But these things happen in open source and software projects. I myself will most likely keep Argonaut as a Pylons project, or maybe port it (again) to Pyramid or even Django. Time will tell, but first one version needs to be released.
